VoxGuard 4.8.23 preserves an active Android voice session when the app is opened from its foreground notification and makes join failures accurately actionable.

This build is distributed through Google Play Internal testing and Apple TestFlight. It is not a public app-store release.

  • The persistent notification and VoxGuard status-bar icon make an active background listening session visible.
  • The Android voice notification displays the readable group or channel name instead of a technical identifier.
  • Opening VoxGuard from an active voice notification preserves the existing app and voice session instead of starting a competing join.
  • Expired authentication and missing group access now lead to different recovery guidance.
  • Microphone denial, an unsupported app version, and general voice failures use localized and actionable messages.

How an active PTT session stays visible

Build 26072002 keeps the foreground voice session visible both in Android's notification panel and in the status bar. The indicators disappear when the user leaves the group or signs out.

Verification

Test and device evidence

  • Static analysis, 2,518 Flutter tests, and 14 Android native tests passed.
  • Simulator health and all seven release-gate quick-smoke scenarios passed.
  • Two physical Android devices passed bidirectional PTT, no-audio-without-PTT, background/relaunch, screen-lock, leave-group, and sign-out checks.
  • Normal WhatsApp call and message audio continued to work while VoxGuard was active, with no observed audio leak through the PTT channel.
Availability

Internal store channels

  • Google Play Internal testing: corrected production build 26072002 uploaded and verified.
  • iOS TestFlight: corrected production build 4.8.23 (26072002) processed for the internal group.
  • External TestFlight and public app-store distribution remain disabled.
Closeout

Remaining validation

  • Final Android release closeout still includes ten foreground-notification open cycles per physical device.
  • The cycle includes removing the activity and reopening VoxGuard through the active voice notification.
  • Wider rollout remains a separate release-owner decision.
